Description
Dr Victor Morgan will lead an exploration of what was once known as “the holy valley” because of the large number of churches and religious houses there. The tour will include Narborough church, with its rich collection of brasses and monuments, the remains of the precinct of West Acre priory and its interesting church.
ITINERARY:
Start at Narborough at 11:00, through to 12:15 (I have asked for the parish loos be open.)
12:30 Lunch either on the green at West Acre, in the grounds of the remains of West Acre Priory or at the Stag.
13:30 West Acre Priory
14:30 West Acre Church
15:45 South Acre Church, end 16:15.
TRAVEL:
Coaches are now prohibitively expensive but the Society does not want exclude from excursions those who do not have a car. Therefore, we intend to use this excursion as an experiment with running a car pool.
When booking this excursion could those who are able to offer a lift please tell us so, how many seats you might have available, and where you would prefer to make a pickup. We assume that this is likely to be in Norwich or its outskirts.
Would those who do not have a car but would like to come on the excursion please tell us that you would need a lift and from where you might prefer to be picked up.
We will try to match-up individuals and put them in touch with one another so that they can arrange the details directly. We assume that if you offer or request a lift you are okay with us passing on your contact information.

PARKING:
There is a limited amount of parking in front of Narborough Church. To optimise the use of the space, as far as possible please park nose (or tail) in rather than parallel with the churchyard wall.
LUNCH:
There is a pleasant green adjacent to West Acre Church. Those who prefer to bring their own sandwiches could eat them there or in the grounds of the Priory. For those desirous of alcoholic imbibition, with or without food, The Stag is around five minutes walk from West Acre Church. It has a large carpark.
